Krent Wieland opened his own firm shortly after moving to Florida in 1975. His distinctive style and innovative designs have enriched the fabric of Florida’s landscape ever since. Now with ten employees, KWD continues as it began, creating cost-effective, innovative design solutions that respond to the unique requirements of each project.

With hundreds of projects over the last 32 years, concentrated mostly in Central and Southern Florida, Krent, has completed additional projects in North Carolina, Texas and Connecticut, and internationally in the Bahamas and Mexico. Projects range in size from high-end custom residences to several thousand acre community developments, golf-course communities, and resort work. His work is typified by close attention to detail which is exemplified in his intricate "hardscape" designs, including pools, water features, patios/decks, gazebos, and pergolas. Nationally published in such publications as Architectural Digest and Florida Design, Krent’s exceptional designs have also won a series of awards over the last several decades. These awards include an “Award of Honor” from the American Society of Landscape Architect, several Grand Aurora Awards, New Home Building and Design Excellence in the Southeast, the Best in American Living Award: Silver and South Atlantic Region Winner in the category “Best One-of-a-Kind Custom Home,” as well as numerous awards from the Florida Nurserymen and Grower’s Association and Gold Coast Building Association.

Krent has fostered a warm and supportive community at KWD, where all employees are encouraged to participate in the design process, to learn and grow. A corporate culture of respect, mentoring and education recognizes the contribution made by each team member. Though absorbed in client coordination and the day-to-day design decisions of the firm, Krent values time spent teaching staff members the craft he has honed throughout his professional life.
